Tides arrive in total darkness,
discolor the blackened sands
and cover their own whispers
with liquid’s brimming fullness.
Blindly, the bright moon drops
away from her sisters, the stars
and woofs madly at the swells
of time’s many obliterations.
She shuns memories’ experience,
enduring solidity’s reverence,
so transfixed on one purpose,
the blind mind only senses.
Rooting through roiling circles,
searching through fluid space
where nothing is of any [...]

The Blind Moon
Going Somewhere
The station where he bought a ticket
descended stairs, stood on a platform
but could not wait for one minute
and left without his steps ever ceasing
Not the neighborhood where he would
have gone if the train had come
nor the time he would have chosen
to leave the place he would have been
But the duration of the listlessness
punctuated by halts [...]
Digressions
As a boy I would awake every morning wondering whether this would be the day that the grand illusion, the curtain fluttering in front of a play of the absurd that was never to be seen in which the actors carried out their motions with such force as to disturb the airs would crash down, [...]
Changes
what impressed me at the beach
was how still the rocks were -
the waves lashing their black craters
relentlessly. and the ruts in the
dunes that sloped up cliff-like
to a grassy edge high above,
caused by the musical falling
avalanches of sand that would
hardly form a pile in the palm of the hand.
i found a trail that led away
from the [...]
Current Modernity
People have dug holes in the earth
to put what they wait to need,
built bridges to carry them across
the hollows as they remain still,
stare into spiderweb hand games
that they give their little fingers for.
Not one has ever touched a shovel,
mixed mud in a factory of bricks.
They climb a sheer horizontal wall
for selfish intentions that serve all.

Letter to the Father
Dream the moment the consciousness of the sun blazes
into being and shadows me seventy years down the road,
calling me over my shoulder with letters with words that are
capitalized and underlined, none of which I now remember,
having woken knowing that sleep is to be no more and
preoccupations I will mind will flash like strobes on the [...]
pain
the private worlds we decorate
with all our favorite faces, the voices
we find most sonorous, the touches
that push on our pressure points
with just the right amount of force to cause
the kind of tickling pain we like -
the kind we can’t describe, or even
define ourselves to go out and seek -
you just have to know somehow
whether by [...]
The Storm
Cast by the upheaval of facile expectations for
the immediate future – dirt in the ground where a bomb
explodes – I lie among a heap of unwanted things,
not even worth the attention it would take to be
properly gotten rid of. Evidence of the turbidity of
the illusions the people who knew me have harbored
- the only friend [...]
The Saint
Depressed with the ways he used to think,
the saint went and spent money to prove
almost everything is meaningless, value
the abstractest concept there is – his reaction
to a culture that takes satisfaction from seeing
garbage cans full, he picked up broken
treasures, trampled in the street, scattered
crystals of windshield glass; and that he could play
the game, engage himself [...]
Four Haikus
Symmetry of three:
what placatory taste deems
this is beautiful?
************
A voluptuous
mannequin is a mirror
hung in a bird cage.
************
The footprint in sand;
gloss of a product for sale.
Trees of the same root.
************
Thorns drip blood from the
black rose, life; still smelling sweet
in the aftertaste.
